Renault Clio: Manual gearbox: Identification
JA3 or JA5 or JH3 or JR5
K4J / K4M / K9K / D4F engines are fitted with type JH
and JR manual gearboxes.
A marking (1) on the gearbox casing indicates:

- Gearbox type
- Gearbox suffix
- Production plant
- Production number
K9K, and TL4 - F4R, and 830, and TL4

- Identification plate
- Engraving

- Gearbox type
- Gearbox suffix
- Production plant
- Production number
Manual gearbox oils: Draining - Filling
JH3 or JR5
Capacity (in litres)

DRAINING
- Remove:
- the engine undertray mounting bolts,
- the engine undertray.
JH3

- Remove the drain plug (1).
JR5

- Remove the drain plug (2).
FILLING
- It is essential to replace the drain plug seal.
- Refit the drain plug.
JH3

- Remove the filler cap (3).
JR5

- Remove the filler cap (4).

- Fill up to the level of the opening with oil recommended
by the manufacturer (see Manual gearbox
oil: Specifications) (Technical Note 6012A, 04, Lubricants).
- Refit the filler cap.
- Refit:
- the engine undertray,
- the engine undertray mounting bolts.

Never apply pressure to the engine compartment
connection unit joint face (risk of moisture entering).
If the joint face is damaged, the unit will need to be
replaced.
