Renault Clio: Rear seat access mechanisms: Removal - Refitting
C85, and WITHOUT SPORT SEATS, and DOCUMENTATION PHASE 2
IMPORTANT
Before beginning work on any component of the
safety system, it is essential to lock the airbag computer
using the Diagnostic tool (see Airbag and
pretensioners: Precautions for the repair) (88C,
Airbag and pretensioners). When this function is
activated, all the trigger lines are inhibited and the
airbag warning light on the instrument panel is continuously
lit (with the ignition on).
IMPORTANT
Never handle the pyrotechnic systems (pretensioners
or airbags) near to a source of heat or naked
flame - they may be triggered.
REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
- Disconnect the battery (see Battery: Removal - Refitting)
(80A, Battery).
- Remove the front seat (see 75A, Front seat frames
and mechanisms, Complete front seat: Removal
- Refitting, 75A-33).
- Remove:
- the front seat headrest guides (see 79A, Seat accessories,
Front seat headrest guide: Removal
- Refitting, 79A-6),
- the front seatback cover (see 77A, Front seat
trim, Front seatback trim: Removal - Refitting, 77A-13).
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
1 - Rear seat access mechanism
- Carefully unclip the stop clips (1) on the front seatback
frame unlocking cables.
- Separate the front seatback foam on each side of
the front seatback frame.
- Unclip the clips (2) from the cable adjustment systems
of the front seatback frame unlocking mechanism.
- Mark the position of the adjustment system of the
front seatback frame unlocking cables.
- Remove:
- the locks (4) of the adjustment system (3) of the
front seatback frame unlocking cables,
- the adjustment systems of the front seatback frame unlocking cables
by (5) and (6).
- Move the front seatback foam away from the rear
seat access control.
- Unclip the mounting of the rear seat access control
(7) using a flat-blade screwdriver.
- Remove the " rear seat access control mounting -
front seatback frame unlocking cables " assembly.
2 - Front seat runners unlocking cable
- Remove the front seat runners unlocking cable stop from the front seat
base frame by turning it a quarter of a turn (8).
- Unclip at (9) the front seat runners unlocking cable
from the front seat base frame.
- Release at (10) the front seat runners unlocking cable.
- Remove:
- the front seat runners unlocking cable stop from the front seatback
frame by (11) then (12),
- the front seat runners unlocking cable clip (13) from
the front seat base frame,
- the front seat runners unlocking cable.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
1 - Front seat runners unlocking cable
- Position the front seat runners unlocking cable.
- Clip the front seat runners unlocking cable onto the
front seat base frame.
2 - Rear seat access mechanism
- Position the " rear seat access control mounting -
front seatback frame unlocking cables " assembly.
- Properly position the front seatback unlocking cables
in the cable adjustment systems.
Note:
The cable adjustment system is used to compensate
for play.
- Clip on:
- the " rear seat access control mounting - front
seatback frame unlocking cables " assembly on
the front seatback frame,
- the adjustment systems of the front seatback frame
unlocking cables onto the front seatback frame,
- the stop clips of the front seatback frame unlocking
cables onto the front seatback frame.
- Refit:
- the locks of the adjustment systems of the front
seatback frame unlocking cables,
- the rear seat access control.
- Perform an operational test of the rear seat access
mechanism and adjust if necessary.
- Refit the rear seat access control.
II - FINAL OPERATION
- Refit:
- the front seatback cover (see 77A, Front seat
trim, Front seatback trim: Removal - Refitting, 77A-13),
- the front seat headrest guides (see 79A, Seat accessories,
Front seat headrest guide: Removal
- Refitting, 79A-6).
- Refit the front seat (see 75A, Front seat frames
and mechanisms, Complete front seat: Removal
- Refitting, 75A-33).
- Connect the battery (see Battery: Removal - Refitting)
(80A, Battery).
- Unlock the airbag computer using the Diagnostic
tool (see Airbag and pretensioners: Precautions
for the repair) (see 88C, Airbag and Pretensioners).
SPORT FRONT SEATS
REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
- Disconnect the battery (see ) (80A, Battery).
- Remove:
- the front seat (see 75A, Front seat frames and
mechanisms, Complete front seat: Removal -
Refitting, 75A-33),
- the front seatback cover (see 77A, Front seat
trim, Front seatback trim: Removal - Refitting, 77A-13),
- the front seatback casing (see Front seatback casing: Removal -
Refitting).
II - REMOVAL OPERATION
- Remove the clips of the rear seat access mechanism
control support.
- Detach the cables of the rear seat access mechanism
from the guide clips.
Note:
The Parts Department delivers the rear seat
access control assembled with the front seatback
frame unlocking cables.
- Remove the " rear seat access control support -
front seatback frame unlocking cables " assembly.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION
- parts always to be replaced: Clip of front seatback
casing exterior trim.
Note:
If the guide clips of the front seatback frame
unlocking cables are detached, replace the double-
sided adhesive tape (see Vehicle: Parts
and consumables for the repair) (04B, Consumables
- Products).
II - REFITTING OPERATION
- Refit the " rear seat access control support - front
seatback frame unlocking cables " assembly.
- Position the cables of the rear seat access mechanism
in the guide clips.
- Refit the new clips of the rear seat access control
support using a socket of the same diameter as the
clips.
Note:
The socket should rest against the edge of the
clip to avoid damaging the clip teeth.
III - FINAL OPERATION
- Proceed in the reverse order to removal.
- Carry out a function test.
