Heated seat pad: Removal - Refitting
WITHOUT SPORT SEATS, and DOCUMENTATION PHASE 1
REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
- Remove:
- the front seat (see 75A, Front seat frames and
mechanisms, Complete front seat: Removal -
Refitting, 75A-33),
- the seat base trim (see 77A, Front seat trim,
Front seat base trim: Removal - Refitting, 77A-1),
- the seatback trim (see 77A, Front seat trim, Front
seatback trim: Removal - Refitting, 77A- 13).
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
- Disconnect the heated pad connectors.
- Remove the seat base " foam - heated pad " assembly
from the seat frame.
WARNING
Carefully remove the seat heated pad (risk of
damaging the foam).
- Remove the seatback " foam - heated pad " assembly
from the seat frame.
WARNING
Carefully remove the seat heated pad (risk of
damaging the foam).
REFITTING
I - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
- Check the condition of the seat base and seatback
foam pads (replace them if necessary).
- Remove the protective backing from the seat base
heated pad adhesive.
- Bond the seat base heated pad in position.
- Remove the protective backing from the seatback
heated pad adhesive.
- Bond the seatback heated pad in position.
II - FINAL OPERATION
- Refit:
- the seatback trim (see 77A, Front seat trim, Front
seatback trim: Removal - Refitting, 77A- 13).
- the seat base trim (see 77A, Front seat trim,
Front seat base trim: Removal - Refitting, 77A-1),
- the front seat (see 75A, Front seat frames and
mechanisms, Complete front seat: Removal -
Refitting, 75A-33).
FRONT SEAT WITH HEATING, and DOCUMENTATION PHASE 2
IMPORTANT
Before beginning work on any component of the
safety system, it is essential to lock the airbag computer
using the Diagnostic tool (see Airbag and
pretensioners: Precautions for the repair) (88C,
Airbag and pretensioners). When this function is
activated, all the trigger lines are inhibited and the
airbag warning light on the instrument panel is continuously
lit (with the ignition on).
IMPORTANT
Never handle the pyrotechnic systems (pretensioners
or airbags) near to a source of heat or naked
flame - they may be triggered.
REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
- Disconnect the battery (see Battery: Removal - Refitting)
(80A, Battery).
- Remove the front seat (see 75A, Front seat frames
and mechanisms, Complete front seat: Removal
- Refitting, 75A-33).
1 - Front seatback heated pad
FRONT SEAT TYPE 02 or FRONT SEAT TYPE 03
or FRONT SEAT TYPE 05
- Remove the front seat height adjustment control
(see 75A, Front seat frames and mechanisms,
Front seat height adjuster control: Removal - Refitting, 75A-19).
- Remove:
- the front seat headrest guides (see 79A, Seat accessories,
Front seat headrest guide: Removal
- Refitting, 79A-6),
- the front seatback cover (see 77A, Front seat
trim, Front seatback trim: Removal - Refitting, 77A-13).
2 - Front seat base heated pad
- Remove:
- the front seat base casing (see 77A, Front seat
trim, Front seat lower casing: Removal - Refitting, 77A-30),
- the front seat base cover (see 77A, Front seat
trim, Front seat base trim: Removal - Refitting, 77A-1).
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
Front seat base heated pad
- Detach the heated pad from the " foam - heated
pad " assembly of the front seat base.
WARNING
To avoid any damage to the foam, detach the
heated pad carefully.
Front seatback heated pad
- Remove the seatback " foam - heated pad " assembly
from the front seatback frame.
- Detach the heated pad from the front seatback
" foam - heated pad " assembly.
WARNING
To avoid any damage to the foam, detach the
heated pad carefully.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
- Check the condition of the front seat base and seatback
foam pads; replace them if necessary.
- Detach the protective backing from the heated pad
adhesive of the front seat base or seatback.
- Bond the heated pad of the seatback or seat base in
position.
II - FINAL OPERATION
1 - Front seatback heated pad
- Refit:
- the front seatback cover (see 77A, Front seat
trim, Front seatback trim: Removal - Refitting, 77A-13),
- the front seat headrest guides (see 79A, Seat accessories,
Front seat headrest guide: Removal
- Refitting, 79A-6).
2 - Front seat base heated pad
- Refit:
- the front seat base cover (see 77A, Front seat
trim, Front seat base trim: Removal - Refitting, 77A-1),
- the front seat base casing (see 77A, Front seat
trim, Front seat lower casing: Removal - Refitting, 77A-30).
FRONT SEAT TYPE 02 or FRONT SEAT TYPE 03
or FRONT SEAT TYPE 05
- Refit the front seat height adjustment control (see
75A, Front seat frames and mechanisms, Front
seat height adjuster control: Removal - Refitting, 75A-19).
- Refit the front seat (see 75A, Front seat frames
and mechanisms, Complete front seat: Removal
- Refitting, 75A-33).
- Connect the battery (see Battery: Removal - Refitting)
(80A, Battery).
- Unlock the airbag computer using the Diagnostic
tool (see Airbag and pretensioners: Precautions
for the repair) (see 88C, Airbag and Pretensioners).
Storage compartment under front seat: Removal - Refitting
REMOVAL

- Refitting, 75A-33).
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
- Remove rivets (1).
- Remove the under-seat storage compartment.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
- Refit:
- the under-seat storage compartment,
- the rivets (2).
II - FINAL OPERATION
- Refit the front seat (see 75A, Front seat frames
and mechanisms, Complete front seat: Removal
- Refitting, 75A-33).
Front seat headrest guide: Removal - Refitting
WITHOUT SPORT SEATS, and DOCUMENTATION PHASE 2
REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
- Tilt the front seatback towards the rear.
- Press the unlocking button on each headrest guide.
Note:
Depending on the type of unlocking button, this
operation is performed manually or using a flat-blade
screwdriver.
- Remove the front seat headrest.
Note:
The front seat headrest guides can be removed
without removing the front seatback cover.
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
- Slightly detach the "foam - cover" assembly of the
front seatback near the headrest guides to reveal
the locking clips of the front seat headrest guides.
- Unclip the front seat headrest guides from the front seat frame by
pressing the locking clips (2) using a flat-blade screwdriver (1).
- Remove the front seat headrest guides.
Note:
The locking clips of the front seat headrest
guides are all on the same side.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
- Refit the front seat headrest guides fully into the
front seatback frame.
Note:
To prevent the headrest guides from being mixed
up, every headrest guide has a specific foolproofing
device.
- Check that the front seat headrest guides are secure
on the front seatback frame.
II - FINAL OPERATION
- Refit the front seat headrest.
- Carry out a function test.
IMPORTANT
To prevent the headrest coming away from the
guide during a collision, check that headrest
guide locking system is functioning correctly.
- Set the angle of the front seatback to its original position.
